When Sally Pillar, who runs a wellness centre, and does radio shows in Botswana took to the lectern present the second address to the Convocation, no one would have thought the day will end with many in tears. She took us through the need to keep our families healthy as she opened the address by emphasizing the need to build relations based on:
Attitude Behavior Christian Culture
Through her presentation, she introduced her audience to the NEWSTART Theory which is:
Nutrition
Exercise
Water
Stimulating the mind
Time with God
Air
Rest
Trust
Sally made the following points:
She said that for a family to be healthy it does not only need
a Nutritional diet, but also egular Exercise,
Water which refreshes and reinvigorates whether in drinking or bathing with it.
The mind needs to be Stimulated like a saw that needs to be sharpened all the time.
People need to spend quality Time with God, and not spend a lot of time brooding or feeling sorry for themselves. This can be done in an environment with Air, like the wilderness which is therapeutic on its own as one can go there and listen to the birds singing, see butterflies and talk to God.
A healthy body needs to be Rested as we are forever running to and fro without taking and making time to be still so that we may listen to God and know that He is God.
Trust is a very important factor in families as it drives us to self management but above everything else we need to trust the Lord.
During the presentation Sally provided an exercise where people could experience TRUST. This was a transformative moment for many as people were sharing openly, exposing there feelings and inner-thoughts to others. Tears flowed as a lot of happiness and troubles had been shared.
One can only hope and pray that this can be translated into our families and the church for the health and long life of all who trust and believe in the Lord.
