Preachers Course- The Last Session |

The last of the three sessions of the UCCSA Preacher's course finally came to and on the 31st August 2008 at the historic Moffat Mission Centre in Kuruman where the bible was first translated into Setswana over 150 years ago.
Some 55 lay preacher learners were taken through steps in sermon construction such as gathering sermon ideas, choosing the idea for the text, the subject/ theme, selecting an outline, sermon development, using illustrations in sermons as well as quality checklist for a well prepared sermon.
What was striking to me personally was the fact that although a lot of these lay preachers had been in lay-preaching for quite some time, they openly acknowledged their newly acquired knowledge.
They claimed that the three phased learning sessions had indeed opened their horizons in sermon construction and preaching.
The UCCSA must be commended as well for initiating such a project where lay preachers are trained to deliver the word of God. As one of the learners who went through this training, I encourage other preachers to follow suit and attend courses offered by the UCCSA Leadership academy in preparation for ministry. By the way nothing beats training. Finally it came to light that indeed in the colony of the blind one eyed human being is King. Let's study so that we will not only be informed, but we will also be able to excel at what we do!
